I called this My Chaotic life because while I worked on this it just reminded me of all the stuff that I have going on in my life right now. I have never done this before and I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out but It was super fun. I’m actually very pleased with the end result.
So for my project I decided to do a layered mixed media canvas. Using a tissue paper layering to technique All you do is layer tissue paper onto the canvas using modpodge or gel medium, add dimensional elements( I used Chipboard) Paint them. Keep repeating the steps until you get the look you want. It's just layers! The tissue paper will take on the color that you painted the previous layer but it will be kind off transparent. You can Randomly use different colors of paint to get an interesting effect. I used Copper gold and yellow. After I had my layers. I used the handle of my brush and traced around the chipboard pieces. Don't worry if the tissue paper rips just leave the rips alone. Next I took a white sheet of tissue paper and sprayed Dylusions inks by Ranger in red and yellow and lightly brushed gold paint on top. I let it dry and then I stamped with Stazon using Close to my heart stamps . I then tore the stamped images and randomly applied them to the canvas. I added another layer of tissue paper and lightly hit it with more paint! Finally I added twine, toothpicks, more of Gina’s chipboard and ha ha….more paint. By accident I noticed that the flash on the camera hit some of the photo's differently when I turned the canvas. I decided to leave it alone because it give you a good idea of how the layers blend. When you look at the pictures you will be able to see some of the colors used under each layer.
From Gina's Designs I used:
Chicken Wire
Butterflies and Dragonflies
Birds and Cages Shape set
Keys and Plates set
Tree's
Steampunk Shape set
Gears
Other Items
12x12 canvas
Metallic Paint
found objects ( toothpicks, wood)
Twine
Ranger Dylusions spray ink
tissue paper
Mod Podge
CTMH stamps
Stazon
In Photo's 2 and 3 I turned the canvas slightly and now you can see the gold and yellow that is actually under the first layer. That red piece where the key is stamped is on top. If I had put it underneath it would have blended into the backround.
Please try one! It takes a while but it was lots of fun. If you don't let the layers dry you will get more of a color transfer as the paint will soak through the tissue paper if you let it dry a bit between layers then you will get the look you see in pictures 2 & 3. I did my canvas both ways. Some spots are transparent and some are opaque.
Thanks so much for looking.
Don't forget to comment and hop for your chance to win a $10.00 Gift Certificate to Gina's Designs or the Grand Prize Gift Certificate for $25.00.
