Gina’s Designs Guest Spot CREATE Canvas

Hello Everyone!
Today I am going to share my CREATE wall canvas that I made for my Gina’s Designs guest spot . I have always been interested in abstract art so I used this opportunity to try my hand at my very first abstract painting. For this canvas I used Gina’s Designs palette and brushes and Ginas Designs Create dovetail banner and Gina’s Designs chicken wire. The first thing you will need to do is apply a background color to your canvas. I chose orange. Once the paint was applied I wiped the excess off. I then added various drips and drops of colors. I chose lime green, yellow, while and turquoise. I also used drips of India Ink to add vibrancy to my paint.  Once you let that dry it’s time for your next layer. I used modeling paste and Gina’s Chicken wire to add texture, while the paste was still wet I sprayed it with lime green ranger spray and topped it off with a sprinkle of recollections glitter glass. Let that dry overnight. Don’t forget the edges! Once my canvas was completely dry I used a black ink pad and ran it along the edges. Next for the chipboard. First I painted all the pieces white. Next I used my Gelletos to color the pallet and brush and the letters. I used my finger to blend it all together, then I used a paint brush with a small amount of water to smooth everything out. Once dry I began using the same dip and drizzle technique that I used for the canvas. Finally after everything was dry I glued everything down using E6000.  This was yet another easy project to complete and I absolute love the results. The nice thing about this type of project is you can’t mess up.  If you can layer you can do this!

Gina's Designs Guest Spot 3 panel Decorative Screen

Hello everyone today I’m going to share my next project for Gina’s Designs. This week I had fun working with Gina’s Designs Decorative Screens. I especially enjoyed this project because when I saw them I immediately though of layers, flowers, metal and paint….my favorite things to work with. For the background I painted the screens black and then layered them with Recollections multi- surface ink in both black and vintage gold. Next I layered on Snow Tex and let it dry overnight. Once dry I sprayed the whole thing with Tattered Angles glimmer mist in Summer Glow, Yellow Zest and Ranger butterscotch color wash spray. Once that was dry I began layering Gina’s Designs butterflies and dragonflies, which I glittered and stacked, wire, K & Co swirls and gems, trims and flowers. I then added a Prima accent piece to the center screen and tied each piece together to create the finished 3 panel screen. That’s about it, super simple and loads of fun! Thanks so much for looking, be sure to stop by Gina’s shop to pick up a few to try out.

" The Mask" Wall Hanging Layout for Gina's Designs

As a reminder of my Trinidadian heritage I made this wall hanging layout that I call "The Mask". It's carnival time again in Washington, DC! All of the Caribbean islanders in the area come together and unite as one. Participants and visitors can enjoy dancing, celebrations, good food and fun. One thing that always captivates me is the bright display of  colors  that are seen so frequently in the islands. For this wall hanging I decided to use black  for my mask base because black represents unity and strength.Once I colored my mask with a black Sharpie paint marker, I highlighted the black mask with lime green and silver stickles to give it a little pop and sparkle. For the background, I added memento ink in lime green and gray to white textured cardstock. Once everything was dry I layered the mask on the page with pop dots and added a few flowers from my stash. For a finishing touch I added Dazzles silver strips and a few Jolees.
